A Slow Life

In today's fast paced world where everyone is in a rush to be somewhere, I dream of having a slow life. A life unbound by society's expectations. A life in which my coffee gets cold because I was busy gazing at the birds outside my window. A life in which I forget to turn off the stove because I was so immersed in reading a new book. A life in which I notice how genuine happiness light up people's faces. A life of pure tranquil and bliss.

In my imagination of this slow life, I live in a cottage in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of the city accompanied by a loving partner and a cat. I would also prefer living alone but I am just a girl and a hopeless romantic, so I would very much like to have a companion to annoy for the rest of my life. There is a small cosy library in that cottage, filled with all the lives I have lived through books. We wake up to fresh air with sunlight beaming through our window, well slept and excited to go about our day. We also plant a small garden where fresh vegetables and flowers grow and where we take our evening tea with our cat sitting on my lap. This life obviously involves work too because how else could we survive? But it is not arduous that it robs us of our daily little pleasures. At night, we gaze at the stars and the moon while having meaningful or silly conversations. We have a book club as well where like minded people exchange ideas and book recommendations. Our slow life includes some travelling too, majorly visiting friends and family along with a few adventures every now and then.

All of this sounds serene and perfect, right? You might think that this girl lives in a fantasy world in her head and that's true to some extent but there's no price tag on dreaming. So I think we all should dream of having a life that will make our time on this planet memorable and exciting.
